December 2, 1859
John Brown was an American abolitionist. An advocate of violent
insurrection -he was and still is seen as both a hero and a villain.
After his failed raid on the federal armory at Harpers Ferry, Virginia,
Brown was charged with murder, conspiracy and treason and was hanged on
December 2nd, 1859.
